Refine Well Pad
After specifying the settings for your well pad on the Well Pad Preliminary form, you can use the options on the Refine Well Pad form to review and change the settings of the individual well plans and wellbore trajectories for each of the wells of the well pad. Some of the data is editable; you can change certain parameters, such as target zone, for individual wellbores.
Make sure the correct well pad is selected from the 'Well Pad' drop-down list.
This tab gives an overview of the slots and their surface locations. The names in the Slot Name column are auto-generated and compiled as follows: <well pad name> /row nr. / slot nr. You can overwrite the slot names and they are updated on other tabs as well. The Well Plan column (read-only) shows the associated well plan. You can find the slot names under the Well Pads folder in the Well Data section in the JewelExplorer.
On this tab you will find a table that lists the names of the well plans for the well pad. You can change most of the parameters in the table to refine individual well plans. Check the Locked check box to lock a well plan and prevent it from being edited. All the values that are filled in upon opening the tab, are values taken from the Well Pad Preliminary form. Here, you can adjust your individual wellbores.
Slot name Well slot names are taken from the Slots tab.
Well Plan Well plan names are editable. The well plans for the designed well pad are located under the Well Designs folder in the Well Data section in the JewelExplorer.
Minimum KOP Specify the Minimum KOP (depth for the kick-off point).
Well Target TVDSS Specify the True Vertical Depth Sub-Sea of the well target.
Target Zone Select a target zone from the drop-down list, if available.
Extend Specify the length with which the wellbore will be extended from the last target. The extension uses the same azimuth and inclination of the last target.
Length in Well Zone Specify the length of the horizontal section of the wellbore in the target zone.
Wellbore Azimuth (GN) Specify the azimuth for the wellbore.
Use Inclination This option is only available when you have selected Well Target TVDSS. When checked, use the next column to specify an angle to use.
Inclination Only active when 'Use Inclination' is checked. Specify an angle.
Heel-Axis Distance Specify the distance between the heel and the (vertical) central line.
Location on Heel Line Specify the distance between the heel and the (horizontal) central line.
Distance to Boundary Only active when you are using a boundary, selected on the Well Pad Preliminary form. Specify a distance, the default value is 0.
All the planned wellbores are listed on this tab. You can change the name of the wells in the second column. All other columns on this tab are read-only. In the JewelExplorer, you can find the planned wellbores under the <well pad name> sub-folder in the Wells folder in the Well Data section.
This tab provides the target zone information (read-only) for all wellbores. You generally use the information on this tab to look at the wellbore length in the assigned target zone and to optimize the well designs accordingly for maximum drainage volume.
Finally, click Apply to save the changes and keep the form open, or click OK to save changes to the well pad and close the form.
